About

Hi Everyone!

My name is Ms. Walgate and I'm the Grade 4/5 Teacher at Glen Dhu Public School

I grew up in Durham Region while attending both Elementary and High School in Whitby. I have three older sisters, which two of them are teachers (one teaching in Austrailia).

I attended Brock University obtaining a Degree in Psychology. While at Brock I participated in the Children’s Movement Program for students with Special needs and was a Brock “Badger” with the Ladies Field Lacrosse Team.

Upon completing my program, I enrolled in the Accelerated Child and Youth Worker Post-Grad program at Humber College. This program has given me a strong foundation supporting me while teaching. After a few years of working in a Residential Group Home I attended Teachers College at Lakehead University (in Orillia) which lead me here; a Teacher at the Durham District School Board.

I’ve taken interest and continued my education through professional development workshops and additional qualifications. I set goals, reflect and always give my best efforts. I love being a teacher, learning, growing, making connections and making a difference.

I am thrilled to work with you and your child this year!

A Little About Our Classroom

Roles and Responsibilities

Students had the opportunity to come up with roles and responsibilities within the classroom. As a class students created specific jobs and completed a job application for 3 potential positions. Students explained what skills they have and why they would be a good fit for that job.

Ask your child what their job and role is within our classroom!

Creating a Growth Mind-Set

Students created goals for the year and have been displayed on our tree in the classroom. As students work and reach towards their goals we will create new ones!
